How much does a website cost?

We get asked this question by nearly every client interested in a Web development project. There is never a straight answer to this questions, there is more diversity in scope and scale of the final product in the website design industry than any other product or service I can think of.

The cost of a website is entirely depended on the technology used, the skill set of the developer/coder, the skill set of the designer, the time required, resources required and the platform used to build it.

How much does it cost depends on the questions your developer might ask you

Business Objectives

  • What is the nature of your business or your business idea?
  • What are your objectives for the site?
  • Who are your customer or clients?

The Scale of the Project

  • What do you require as main parts of the site?
  • How many pages do you need?
  • Do you plan to sell online?
  • Do you need a eCommerce or shopping cart site?
  • Who will write the content?

The Design

  • Are there websites with a look similar to what you are after?
  • Do you have a professionally designed logo?
  • Do you have specific business colors?

Functionality

  • Does the website require online forms?
  • Do you need an image gallery?
  • Do you need a Google Maps address location?
  • Are there newsletter signups?
  • Is there any e-commerce involved?
  • Is there any other special functionality required?

Content Management

  • Do you want to manage the content of the website yourself?
  • Who will perform the updates and what is their skill level?

1-2 hours

Web Design

This is the area where any price variation will occur. Is it a simple design or complex?

from 1 to 5 days

Web Development

Converting the design to PHP or ASP, HTML and JAVASCRIP. With a basic website there is little variation in formatting of the pages.

from 1 to 3 days

Content

Usually 3-10 pages. Some variation will occur if there is extra coding, image designs, copywriting, content writing  etc

Content Management (when applicable)

What CMS system will be used. Is it a display website, informative site, eCommerce site

All website will be hosted by us. A basic web hosting package will usually suffice.

2. Medium to Enterprise Business Website – with CMS (range of $2600 – $9600)

What CMS system will be used. Is it a display website, informative site, eCommerce site. There are many different content management systems  that we use. If you have specific CMS that you want us to use. Theses systems give easy to use experience for the client which includes editing content, some images, involving and sales in eCommerce. What costs is the configurations and customizations the client requires use in CMS.

1 day to 5 days

Web Hosting

A intermediate web hosting package will be required.
